Our junior school hosted our first-ever Eisteddfod, in partnership with our Simunye (we are one) project. Through the vision of our Music Tutor, the Eisteddfod showcased the talents of our Simunye partner schools through performance art whilst fostering connections amongst students across the wealth divide. The Simunye schools include our school, Die Duine Primary, Mzamomtsha Primary and Rondebosch Boys Preparatory.
This initiative aims to empower our learners through the performing arts, instilling them with confidence and a determined "can-do" attitude, irrespective of their circumstances. The Eisteddfod provided a great opportunity to display the natural talent all of our students have, and simultaneously offers opportunity for growth and development within their respective disciplines, through professional coaching,” said James George, Music Tutor at our school.
The day started off with all the students bravely performing dance, drama, music and choir pieces they had been working on for months in front of professional adjudicators. This was followed up with a direct workshop rotation whereby students could have direct access to professionals in vocals, drumming, saxophone, dance, drama, trumpet, and much more. This all led to a final phenomenal ensemble performance.
