On 17 July, our school hosted an Appreciation & Investor Evening at Investec’s venue in Johannesburg. It was an opportunity to reflect on our progress, share our vision for the future, and connect with donors, partners, and supporters who make our work possible.

During the event, our Board Chair Ian Russell, CEO Adri Marais, Chief Academic Officer Dr Ronald Fortune, and Marketing and Fundraising Director, Lara Black shared our next big step: the expansion of our school through a new High School building currently under construction.

With only one high school for every four primary schools in the Western Cape, the need for quality secondary education is urgent. While we’re answering that call with more classrooms, what we’re really creating is a space for world-class opportunity. Our new High School will increase our impact by 33% — enabling us to add 300 high school learners to our existing student body of 907.

The evening also included a personal story from one of our alumni, Tina M, who spoke about the role Christel House played in her journey. “Christel House gave me more than an education,” she said. “They helped me build confidence and plan for a future I didn’t think was possible.”

As a non-profit school serving students from low-income communities, we provide a holistic education that includes academic support, nutrition, transport, counselling, and career development. Our model works and with the right support, we can reach more young people.
