    Nathan Daniels

    Class of 2015

Nathan studied medicine at Stellenbosch University and is currently a working medical doctor. Nathan says that the circumstances he faced, including poverty, crime and violence in his neighbourhood, posed so many risks to him and his family. He is grateful for the opportunity Christel House SA afforded him so that he could pursue his dreams.

“My experience at Christel House has been life-changing. In hindsight, I can say that I would not be at this point without the help of the school. Receiving a dedicated education from world-class educators and having the opportunity to follow my dreams has been a major highlight for me.”

Lericia remembers living on the streets with her mother and siblings when she was only 6 years old. A local church offered the family a shipping container in which to make a home. She and her brother then enrolled at Christel House. Today she is a Supervisor of Employee Training at a large technology company.

“If it was not for Christel House, I would be another statistic. But because of the values Christel House instilled in me, I can be proud of the person I am.”

Abigail Stewart grew up in Manenberg. She currently works as a Digital Marketer at one of the biggest internet agencies in the Netherlands, but she says the road to get there was a bumpy one because of the neighbourhood she grew up in. Abigail is grateful that she had the privilege of attending Christel House where she felt loved, cared for and safe.

“I remember often fearing for my life as a rain of bullets showered down on our street. During the day, I’d be at school, truly enjoying being there, and at night I’d be at home often feeling unsafe and scared.”

    Nontando Fani

    Class of 2009

Nontando grew up in a one-room, makeshift home in Langa. In 2009, she matriculated as the first valedictorian of Christel House SA. After matriculating, she completed a qualification in Chemical Engineering and then in Quality Management at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. Nontando launched into a career as an Environmental Specialist, and today she runs a design, fabrication and installation company.

“The older I get the more my heart is moved, humbled and grateful by the fact that there are hundreds of people, some who I have never met, who were part of planting and sowing in my life. I thank God for moving hearts, I am where I am because of the many hands that came together to create a better future for me, my parents, my husband and two children.”
