From Township Challenges to Business Professional: Asive’s Journey

    Asive Qezu, Class of 2011

    Senior Business Analyst

Raised in the township of Langa, Asive experienced firsthand the challenges of growing up in an informal settlement. Her family’s home was destroyed by fires twice, yet she remained determined to pursue her dreams. At the age of 10, Asive relocated to Delft and soon after, in Grade 3, joined Christel House South Africa, a turning point that would open the door to a brighter future.

She matriculated in 2011 and went on to study a BCom degree at the University of the Western Cape, majoring in Information Systems and Industrial Psychology. Asive has since built a successful career as a Senior Business Analyst, specialising in workforce transformation.

Reflecting on her time at Christel House SA, Asive recalls how the school’s approach to education combined rigorous academics with character development and social responsibility. “My time at Christel House SA was transformative, characterised by a blend of rigorous academics and holistic growth. Academically, the personalised mentorship from teachers helped me excel in various subjects, sparking my passion for business. The school’s emphasis on community service, like volunteering at local shelters, instilled a deep sense of social responsibility.”

She also highlights the impact of our Career Development programme, which provided her with mentorship, career guidance, and networking opportunities that helped her secure a place at university and set the foundation for her career success.

Asive’s journey from Langa to a leadership role at a global firm is a powerful reminder of the impact Christel House South Africa has on the students who walk through our corridors—and on their families.
