What is the Fellowship?
Quality education is a child’s best chance to escape poverty. As a non-profit organisation, Christel House is wholly reliant on donations to care for and educate its students. The Christel House Fellowship enables individuals and companies from around the world to help transform the lives of hundreds of children at Christel House South Africa through collective action.
Through the Fellowship, an individual or company builds a lasting bond with a Christel House student by sponsoring their scholarship fees from grade R to grade 12 and see the child’s life changed forever.
How do I/my company become a Christel House Fellow?
Christel House Fellows invest in our children by committing to sponsor a student’s annual scholarship fees from Grade R through to Grade 12. 2019 scholarships are R60 000/$4 000. Although every care is taken to be prudent with the management of our costs, we are projecting annual scholarship increases in line with inflation.
How will my annual donation be used?
Sponsorship ensures that each student receives daily transport to and from school, quality education, books and learning materials, daily meals, a uniform, healthcare, social, psychosocial and career support. Character development forms the basis of Christel House’s curriculum and allows students to grow into formidable young leaders.
What can I expect in return?
A Christel House Fellow gets the opportunity to build a long-lasting relationship with their sponsored child through annual interactions, joint-activities and engagements. Each sponsor also receives a Fellowship Certificate, a profile of their sponsored child, quarterly report cards, video messages and written letters.
Through the fellowship you are making a fundamental difference to a child’s life and will see it changed forever. Your annual contributions are also tax deductible. Christel House is a registered charity in South Africa, the United States, the United Kingdom, India, Mexico and Jamaica through which you can make your donation to help a child in need in South Africa – and qualify for tax relief as an individual or a business.
Christel House fellows form part of a growing network of caring individuals and businesses who are making a difference to the lives of impoverished children and their families in South Africa. Fellows are committed to help break the cycle of poverty through education.
