Intern/Stipend Volunteer in Social Services
 
About the position: We are looking for a team player to assist the Junior School Counsellor in our Social Services Department. The candidate must be willing to adjust to the demands of the Christel House teaching and learning philosophy. The ideal candidate is either working towards a degree in Psychology or Social Work or a retired professional who would like to share their experience and assist our counsellor in fulfilling the needs of our learners within our school environment. The candidate will be supporting the school counsellor in various aspects of learning programming and workshops, while also contributing to the development and implementation of projects that enhance the overall well-being of the learners.
 
 Qualifications and attributes:
-       Studying towards a degree in Psychology or Social Work or a retired professional, interested in making a difference in breaking the poverty cycle.
-       A genuine interest in working with children (previous experience in this regard will be advantageous)
-       Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage.
-       Excellent command of both written and spoken English and second languages (Xhosa /Afrikaans).
-       A keen interest in research and engaging with project management initiatives.
-       Be computer literate.

Music Tutor/ Coach across Junior and High School

About the position: Reporting to the Principal of the Junior School, the Music Coach will be responsible for planning, organising and implementing appropriate instructional programmes across the Junior and High School, encouraging students to achieve their full academic potential. The incumbent will be responsible for the extra-curricular programme at both Junior and High School levels. We are looking for a Music Coach with a passion for music as an art and who can instil the same passion in our learners. The incumbent must be a team player who is flexible, dynamic, adaptable and willing to take on extra responsibility in assisting with extra-mural programmes offered by the school.

Qualifications and attributes:

  • Relevant degree in Music and /or Grade 7 in Practical Work.
  • Be able to teach brass and woodwind instruments
  • Able to teach and manage a Jazz Band.
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience
  • Strong Interpersonal and Communication skills, with the ability to inspire and engage.
  • Supports the implementation of an Outcomes-Orientated Instructional Program Aligned to the Christel House Model
  • Strategically allocates and manages resources and inventory
