Growing up in Athlone, South Africa, Abigail P. dreamt of becoming a hair stylist at a very young age. She recalls always styling someone’s hair at home as a young child. Attending Christel House South Africa since the first grade, she was always encouraged to work hard to achieve her career goals.
As a senior, Abigail joined the Intercoiffure ‘Education for Life’ program located in a training facility on-site at Christel House South Africa. The program provides high school students with hands-on hairdressing training. The program equipped Abigail with the skills needed to secure an apprenticeship at the Carlton International Salon in Claremont.
Today Abigail is in her second year of her apprenticeship and continues to develop her hairdressing skills by attending the Carlton Hair Academy. Reflecting on how far she has come to achieve her dream she states, “Christel House helped me in every way possible to ensure I had the tools to reach my career goal.”
Thank you to the Intercoiffure ‘Education for Life’ program and the on-site volunteers who go the extra mile to ensure students like Abigail receive high-quality training to launch their hairdressing careers.
