A teen at Christel House South Africa (CHSA) is changing lives of young girls in Cape Town. Zanele S., Grade 10, has launched a social action project called “Classe de Chica,” to support and inspire confidence, health and the well-being of girls in her community. With support from a local charity called The Impact Trust, Zanele invites teens to anonymously share questions and requests on the most pressing issues girls are facing. She organizes speakers, workshop sessions and other activities to find solutions. Nasar Harris, Deputy Principal at CHSA is proud of Zanele’s impact. “I think this is a great initiative. This is what is needed by our country and our youth.” Zanele is committed. “I want girls to let go of the mentality of hopelessness in their lives because they don’t believe they have a future because of their backgrounds,” she says. “I want them to have a positive outlook on life.”
