On 18 July, over 100 individuals, including staff from our generous donor and partner organisations dedicated their time to give back to our school for Mandela Day. Volunteers came together to prepare sandwiches and engage in exciting art and game activities. This annual event is more than just a moment for donors to contribute their 67 minutes, it’s a powerful opportunity to strengthen our relationship with them.
“I would like to thank Christel House for having us here for Mandela Day 2024. We are thrilled to be a part of the day and have learnt so much for the Christel House SA learners. They have big dreams and big goals and we can only learn from that”, says Cheryldene Damons, Talent and Culture Administrator at Cape Grace, a Fairmont Managed Hotel.
Grade 7 students Asenathi and Othandwayo shared how much they enjoyed their time with the donors. “Participating in the painting activity was amazing! The art we created will be used as décor for our end-of-year Special Assembly. We would like to thank each organisation and individual for spending their 67 minutes with us.”
In addition to the Mandela Day activities, we are running a fundraising campaign for school uniforms. For Christel House SA students, uniforms are more than just attire. They embody hope and the promise of a brighter future. By donning the Christel House badge with pride, our students are empowered to believe in their potential. We have raised R42 000 thus far and our goal is to reach R60 000, which will cover the cost of uniforms for 67 students.
To support our learners, including our new Grade 8 students joining in 2025, we are seeking donations for student uniforms. To contribute, please visit: https://www.givengain.com/campaign/uniformsformandeladay2024
